The Convent is super fun, and has Adrienne Barbeau in it kicking Catholic ass. The rest of the movie is low-key creeps until the ending ramps it up. Absentia is one of the creepiest movies I've ever seen, with a damn good jump scare that still gets me every time I watch it. White of the Eye seems to have been completely forgotten but is an excellent thriller. Its one of those 'foreign'-style horror movies like House of the Devil or The Innkeepers or M Night movies that builds tension but has a poo poo climax that makes the whole story fairly irrelevant, nonsensical, and stupid once you discover 'the secret'. The Suffering has a unique story and doles it out little by little with some real eeriness, even though it stumbles a little in the third act. My friend recommended this as 'the scariest movie he saw last year' and he usually has good taste in horror so i gave it a watch. Savageland takes a faux documentary approach and really nails it, with a lot of creepiness and suspense along the way. We Are Still Here is an excellent, surprisingly violent ghost story with, to me, zero flaws, plus Barbara Crampton starring. Billy Club is an excellent modern slasher with a throwback approach that isn't annoying for once, zero buzz for it.
I've seen literally no talk about Meet Me There, which is disappointing because I found it to be such a great little movie, even though they didn't quite know how to end it. I am forever hyping Messiah of Evil because it's such a great creepy film that gets under your skin. A war across most of Middle-earth ensues. I think Asmodexia is a pretty great one that doesn't get talked about, probably because it seems like it'll be a generic possession movie. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings, an epic tale of four Hobbits, a Wizard, an Elf, two Men and a Dwarf attempting to destroy the Dark Lord Sauron’s master weapon without letting him discover their plan.
